About Bridgette Shea

Bridgette's love of ancient healing practices started with a trip to the Healing Temple of Aesklepios in Old Epidaurus, Greece in 1992. Having had a meaningful dream life since an early age, finding the Asklepion dream healing temple complex was life changing. It opened a new door that connected dreaming not only with the occult sciences but with healing as a whole. Since then, Bridgette has been studying, practicing, and sharing ancient healing wisdom and how it can be used in our modern times.

Bridgette started out studying Reiki soon after returning from that semester in Greece in the early nineties. From there, she met one of her more profound mentors, Dr. Marcia Dale Lopez. A doctor of Transpersonal Counseling, Marcia had a profound influence on Bridgette’s life. Having been accepted into Marcia’s adapted Transpersonal Training Program in her early 20’s, Bridgette became proficient at emotional body mapping, energy medicine theory, anatomy, and technique, and leading visualization protocols and guided meditations.

After years of energy medicine teaching and practice, Bridgette took to yoga and medical Qi Gong. She studied in the US with David Swenson and many other notable teachers, as well as in India with BNS Iyengar, Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and Yogi Yogendra Mishra of Rishikesh. While in Dharmashala, she studied Tibetan Buddhism with Monks from the Mahayana lineage. In Nepal, she studied medical Qi Gong with Master Prem in Kathmandu. She continued her medical Qi Gong studies back in the US with Master Yuanming Zhang of Chengdu.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies with a minor in Communications from SUNY Albany, and her Master’s from Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine. While working on her MAcOM, she received extensive training in Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, herbal medicine, Zheng Gu Tui Na, and translation of Chinese medical and Taoist texts. During her studies at SIOM, she also studied Ayurveda with mentor Kumudini Shoba. Other Ayurveda instructors include Dr. Vasant Lad, and at Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya’s Dinacharya Institute in Manhattan.

Bridgette currently practices and teaches Yogic and Tibetan Buddhist meditation practices. She also continues her study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism, including the teachings of Yogini Machig Lapdron, under the tutelage of her dear friend Lama Lhanang Rinpoche. She also enjoys the teachings of Tara Mandala and its instructors.

As a result of her study of both Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine, Bridgette compiled a Handbook of Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda as a resource for people looking to understand themselves from an Eastern medicine perspective, and who want to use Eastern wisdom for healing. This past year she also published a book on how to restore and maintain one’s gut flora using Western and Eastern approaches entitled, Cultivating Your Microbiome. Both books are published by Inner Traditions and are available anywhere books are sold, including the Shop.

Bridgette lives with her family in Saratoga Springs, NY. When she is not spending time with her family, she’s hiding out in her back room playing with stones and metalsmithing uplifting, healing jewelry. Her jewelry business, Bridgette Jude Designs, can be found here or through the Shop!
